Orbital meninges-encephalocele
Orbital meningoencephalocele is a congenital abnormality caused by the herniation of the intracranial structure into the orbit through a bone defect. A simple meningeal hernia, containing cerebrospinal fluid, forms a cystic mass called meningocele, and the meninges are associated with herniation of the brain tissue. According to the location of the foramen, meningeal-encephalocele is divided into two clinical types, anterior and posterior, and classification by location is of great significance for diagnosis and treatment. Congenital or acquired orbital bone defects can cause the contents of the cranial cavity (meninges, brain, and cerebrospinal fluid) to burst into the orbit, causing a series of eye symptoms and signs called meningocele and meni ngoencephalocele.
