Intestinal malrotation in children
Intestinal malrotation is a congenital disease in which the rotation of the intestinal canal and the superior mesenteric artery as the axis of the embryo are impaired, resulting in variations in the position of the intestine and incomplete attachment of the mesentery, which can easily cause intestinal obstruction. Anatomical abnormalities caused by disturbance of the development of the inner small intestine can be life threatening. Symptoms occur mostly in infants and children. After birth, it can cause complete or incomplete intestinal obstruction, which is more common in the neonatal period (74%). It is one of the common causes of neonatal intestinal obstruction. Should be treated early.
