Abductive nerve examination

The abductor nerve test refers to the method in which the abductor nerve innervates the rectus muscles of the eyeball and checks the movement of the rectus muscles. The abductor nerve is the somatic motor nerve. It is separated from the brain on both sides of the midline between the pons and medulla. It penetrates the dura on the lateral side of the saddle to enter the cavernous sinus. It goes forward on the outside of the internal carotid artery and then through the inner end of the superior orbit Into the orbit to the external rectus muscle.
