Gypsum syndrome
In 1878, Willatt first reported a case of cast syndrome due to the symptoms of acute gastric dilatation after using hip herringbone plaster. In 1971, Evarts reported that nausea and repeated vomiting could also occur in patients with scoliosis or kyphotic deformity not treated with plaster. He believes that gypsum syndrome is a misnomer. Since this type of treatment has been widely used, it is not uncommon.
