Maxillofacial osteosarcoma
Osteosarcoma is a highly malignant tumor that often occurs in adolescents. It is more common in males than females. About 5% of them occur in the jawbone. Mandibles are more common than maxillary bones. Injuries and radiation may be causative factors. It is composed of tumorous osteoblasts, tumorous bone-like tissues, and tumor bones. The mature and more tumorous bones are called osteoblastic osteosarcoma, which has a lower degree of malignancy; the differentiation is more primitive or embryonic, and tumor bones. Few are called osteolytic osteosarcoma, which has a higher degree of malignancy.
