Iron pneumoconiosis

Pulmonary iron deposition (siderosis) or iron pneumoconiosis is caused by long-term inhalation of metal iron dust or iron oxide dust in the lungs caused by dust deposition and fibrous tissue with mild proliferative lung disease. Iron oxide dust was thought to be inert dust in the past and would not cause pulmonary fibrosis. It has been shown that iron oxide dust can cause mild connective tissue hyperplasia in lung tissues. Therefore, some people have suggested that iron dust lungs are more suitable.
