Klebsiella is found in the intestinal and respiratory tracts of normal people, as well as in water and grains. Populations with low immunity and undergoing surgery and invasive iatrogenic procedures are susceptible to bacterial infections of this genus, and are common pathogens in community-acquired pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia.
