Traumatic ossifying myositis
Myositis ossificans is a locally reactive lesion characterized by fibrous, cartilage, or osteogenesis. Often occurs in soft tissue near the bone or periosteum. The term ossifying myositis is inappropriate because skeletal muscles are not affected and there is no inflammatory change. The etiology can be divided into traumatic ossifying myositis and progressive ossifying myositis.
