Herpes simplex virus pneumonia
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection often occurs in the upper respiratory tract, and the lower respiratory tract is rare. Herpes simplex virus pneumonia is found in immunocompromised patients, patients with alcoholism, and burn patients. Most patients are adults; in infants and young children it can be a complication of extensive herpes simplex virus infection.
