Periostitis
Periosteum is a layer of dense connective tissue membrane that covers the surface of the bone (except the articular surface) and is rich in blood vessels, nerves and osteoblasts. Periosteum plays an important role in bone growth and regeneration. Periosteitis is an infectious periosteal injury caused by periosteum and periosteal vasodilation, congestion, edema, or subperiosteal hemorrhage, hematoma, mesangial hyperplasia, and inflammatory changes.
