Upper airway obstruction
Upper airway obstruction (UAO) is a clinical emergency with severe obstruction of upper airway airflow caused by a variety of causes. Its clinical manifestations are not specific and are easily confused with diseases such as bronchial asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease. . Clinically, the disease is more common in children and less common in adults. There are many causes of upper airway obstruction, of which exogenous foreign bodies are the most common, and the other more common are laryngeal movement disorders, infections, tumors, trauma, and iatrogenic. It is of great clinical significance for timely recognition and treatment of upper airway obstruction, because most patients are healthy in the past and can fully recover after effective treatment.
