Parapharyngeal space infection

Infection of parapharyngeal space is a purulent infection in the parapharyngeal space. Cellulitis occurs early and abscesses develop. The main clinical manifestations are redness and swelling of the pharyngeal wall, prominent palatine tonsils, severe pain in the pharynx and neck, difficulty in swallowing, and articulation. This disease is more common in children.
