Renal medullary necrosis

Renal medullary necrosis is also known as Renal Papillary Necrosis (RPN), necrotizing papillitis, and its essence is the ischemic necrosis of the renal papilla and its adjacent renal medulla. This disease can occur in a variety of diseases, mainly the cause of chronic tubulointerstitial nephropathy. These chronic tubulointerstitial nephropathy is often more severe in the kidney. The basic lesion is impaired renal blood circulation, causing localized or diffuse ischemic necrosis in one or more distal renal pyramids.
