Mental disorders associated with systemic lupus erythematosus
Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease involving multiple systems, multiple organs, and multiple autoantibodies. It is the most common disease in connective tissue diseases. Clinically, it is characterized by facial and skin erythema, and multiple connective tissue lesions at the same time. More common among young women. The male to female ratio is 1: 7 to 1: 9. The age of onset is mostly 15 to 35 years old, which can also be seen in the elderly and children. The mental disorders associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may be caused by autoantibodies involved in cerebrovascular damage via immune mediation, which in turn affects brain function, resulting in neuropsychiatric symptoms.
