Patellar tendon rupture
A patellar tendon rupture is usually an avulsion of the lower edge of the patella. A tibial tubercle avulsion at the distal end of the patellar tendon is also seen. Due to the contraction of the quadriceps, the sacrum can be retracted 3 to 6cm with the quadriceps tendon upward. Therefore, for patellar tendon rupture, early repair should be emphasized. In the later stage, due to contracture and scarring of the patellar tendon after tension loss, reconstruction surgery often has to be performed.
