Interphalangeal neuralgia
Neuralgia or benign neuroma can occur in any interphalangeal nerve. The interphalangeal nerve walks under the phalanges and between the sacrums, crosses the metatarsal bulb, moves toward the distal end, and innervates the toes. The third plantar interphalangeal nerve is composed of branches of the inner and outer plantar nerves, and usually forms a neuroma (Morton neuroma) here. Unilateral neuromas are more common than bilateral, with more women than men.
