Acute purulent thyroiditis in children
Thyroiditis (thyroiditis) is thyroid parenchymal damage caused by thyroid inflammatory lesions caused by various reasons, including various types of inflammation and infection of the thyroid gland. In recent years, due to the development of pathogenesis research and detection methods, the detection rate has been increasing. Acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST) is relatively rare in pediatrics, and may be related to the thyroid gland having a complete envelope, high iodine content, and abundant blood supply and lymph, which is beneficial to bacterial invasion and growth.
