Mekong schistosomiasis
Mekong schistosomiasis was first detected in southern Thailand in 1950. The disease is endemic on the Khong island of the Mekong River in Laos. It was officially named schistosome mekongi in 1978. The main clinical symptoms of this disease are fever, hepatosplenomegaly, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
