Firearm foreign body in neck

Firearm foreign bodies are mostly caused by blind pipe injuries in war or gunfights. More than 80% of them are shrapnel, and a few are gun bullets. Early post-injury patients may have bleeding, shock, and suffocation. Tissues around foreign bodies can undergo inflammatory changes, and wounds can not heal, forming abscesses or sinus tracts. Movement or compression of some foreign bodies can also cause damage and necrosis of surrounding organs. Therefore, surgical removal should be performed in a timely manner.
