Empyema
Uterine empyema is the accumulation of pus in the uterine cavity. When suffering from acute or chronic endometritis, the mouth of the cervix is blocked, the drainage is not smooth, and the secretions stay in the uterus, which may cause pus in the uterine cavity. Uterine empyema is rare and can be easily overlooked or misdiagnosed. It is more common in elderly women or patients with endometrial cancer and after radiotherapy of the uterine cavity and after cervical and uterine cavity surgery.
