Sternal fracture
The sternum is a tough flat bone, and traumatic sternal fractures account for only 110% to 515% of chest trauma. It is mostly caused by direct violence or squeezing force acting on the chest, such as car crash, house collapse and crush injury, blunt blow injury, and the front chest is hit by hard objects during physical movement. Excessive flexion of the spine can also cause sternal fractures. . Fractures of the sternum due to stab wounds are rare.
