Ischemic optic neuropathy

Ischemic optico-neuropathy refers to an acute malnutrition disease in which the nutritional vasculature of the optic nerve circulates disorderly. This disease has often been misdiagnosed as an intracranial tumor or discitis. Generally, the central retinal artery enters the optic nerve at about 9-11 mm behind the bulb as a boundary, and it is clinically divided into anterior and posterior ischemic optic neuropathy. It is the most common cause of disc edema in people over 50 years of age.
