Left bundle branch block

The incidence of left bundle branch block was 1%. The incidence of bundle branch block increases with age. In a prospective study of 855 male patients followed for 30 years, the incidence of left bundle branch block at 50 years old was 0.4%, at 75 years old was 2.3%, and at 80 years old was 5.7%. There is no significant relationship with ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction or cardiovascular death. Studies suggest that bundle branch block is very age-related and is a hallmark of degenerative diseases that can affect the slow progression of the myocardium. However, left bundle branch block may be associated with obvious and severe heart disease.
