Intestinal dilation

Small intestine dilation: It is an important manifestation of malabsorption syndrome. It is more common in the jejunum, especially the middle and lower parts of the jejunum, and sometimes it can cause the entire small intestine to expand, including the duodenum. The degree of dilation of the small intestine is related to the severity of the disease. The reason for the expansion is the low tension of the small intestine. Some people think that the diameter of the small intestine larger than 31mm can be considered to be dilated, and the diameter of the intestine can be 2 to 3 times normal when significantly dilated. The small intestine inflation can be light or heavy, most of the colon inflation is more significant, often manifested as a full abdominal frame inflation. The small intestine is mostly distributed in the mid-abdomen within the colonic frame. When the dilatation is heavy, the intestinal loop is continuous and tubular; when the dilation is light, it appears as a separated inflatable bowel.
