The schistosomiasis was first discovered by Bilhartz in Cairo, Egypt in 1851, so it is also called Bilharziasis. Schistosomiasis is a common disease endemic in Africa and the Middle East. The disease has been in Africa for thousands of years. Schistosoma aegypti parasites in the bladder and pelvic venous plexus, and produces urogenital lesions. Clinical manifestations include urgency, frequent urination, terminal hematuria, bladder irritation and urinary tract obstruction.
