Neonatal convulsions
Neonatal convulsions are abnormal discharges of the central nervous system of the newborn. They are usually manifested as stereotyped muscle activity or autonomic changes. It is a symptom of central nervous system dysfunction caused by a variety of factors. First, it often suggests that there is a serious primary disease, and convulsions on the other hand can cause brain damage, which is one of the most important causes of death during the perinatal period, so it should be diagnosed and treated in time. It is often accompanied by diseases that directly or indirectly affect the central nervous system. With the improvement of diagnosis and treatment technology, the mortality rate has decreased, but the sequelae are still not significantly reduced, so it is still an important issue in neonatal emergency medicine.
