Hypertension in the elderly
Hypertension is one of the common diseases of the elderly. With the increase of life expectancy, the elderly are increasing, and the number of elderly patients with hypertension is increasing. China generally considers people over the age of 60 as the elderly, while abroad, especially in most developed countries, regard the age of 65 and above as the standard for the elderly. Hypertension is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease. These heart and cerebrovascular diseases cause 12 million deaths every year worldwide. Therefore, the prevention and theoretical research of hypertension in the elderly has become a matter of great concern in the medical community.
