Umbilical bulge-macrotongue-megaloid syndrome
Umbilical bulge-macroglossia-megasoma syndrome (AMMS) is a special type of cases of congenital umbilical bulge accompanied by macroglossia and megasoma. Bubl described this case in 1861, but made no mention of giant tongue changes. In 1963, Beckwith and Wiedemann described the disease in detail in 1964, so they are generally called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. Umbilical bulge refers to a type of congenital hypoplasia of the abdominal wall. Some abdominal organs protrude outward through the abdominal wall defect at the base of the umbilical cord. The surface is covered with a deformity of a transparent capsule. Often associated with chromosomal abnormalities, such as 13, 18, 21 trisomy syndrome.
