Pleural metastasis
Pleural metastasis mainly comes from the lung, followed by the breast, and other common primary sites include the stomach, ovary, and pancreas. Cancer causes pleural layer capillary pressure, colloid osmotic pressure, capillary permeability and pressure change in the thoracic cavity, resulting in pleural effusion-malignant pleural fluid. Malignant pleural effusion, also known as cancerous pleurisy, is a pleural effusion caused by cancerous pleural metastasis and cancer of the pleura itself. Malignant pleural effusion is a common complication of advanced cancer. Once pleural effusion occurs in clinical cancer patients, it means that the lesion has spread locally or throughout the body.
