Reduced esophageal peristalsis
Esophagitis can weaken esophageal peristalsis, and esophagitis is inflammation of the esophagus. The clinical manifestations are pain behind the sternum when swallowing, which can also cause esophageal spasm, and temporary difficulty swallowing.
