Deep sleep

Deep hypothalamus lesions can cause deep sleep: You can sleep for days or weeks, and you can be woken up to eat or go to the toilet, and then go to sleep. The hypothalamus weighs about 4 g and is small. In function, the hypothalamus is the center of neuroendocrine and autonomous regulation of the body. On the whole, the hypothalamus is both a nerve center and an endocrine organ, and it is the hub for the nervous system to control the endocrine organs and the interconnection between the endocrine organs and internal and external receptors. At least 11 species of hormones secreted by the hypothalamic neurons have been identified.
