Social fear
Social phobia, also known as social anxiety, is a mental illness that causes intense fear or anxiety in any social or public situation. Patients have a significant and persistent fear of social or performance situations in front of strangers or that may be carefully observed by others, fearing that their actions or nervous performance may cause shame or embarrassment. Some patients have difficulty attending parties, making phone calls, shopping in stores, or asking authority figures. Psychologically diagnosed as social anxiety disorder (SAD).
