Keratin thickening
There is about 10 to 15 layers of stratum corneum in the skin with normal metabolism. The uppermost layer will continuously fall off, giving room for the new cells that are advancing upward. Although the cells of the stratum corneum are dead cells, they are an important barrier to protect the skin, which can prevent direct invasion of foreign bacteria and water loss from the skin. A normal-skinned skin does not require external force to exfoliate, because the outermost cells will fall off automatically after a certain period of time. The metabolism time of cells from live to death is generally about 14 to 28 days. The older the cells, the longer the metabolism takes, which can reach 35 days or even longer. However, due to the deterioration of external environmental conditions due to exposure, imbalanced diet, abnormal daily life, staying up late, smoking, drinking, mood and other factors, it often slows down the metabolic rate, and abnormal metabolism makes keratinocytes unable to fall off naturally. Thick deposits on the surface cause rough and dull skin, which is thickened horny. Common in skin diseases and rickets.
