Tear lactate dehydrogenase

LDH (EC1.1.1.27) and MDH (EC1.1.1.37) in tears are mainly from the corneal epithelium of the eye. Their concentration in tears is about 20 times that of the enzyme in serum. Tear LDH mainly contains M subunits, with the highest contents of LDH5 and LDH4. MDH isoenzymes in tears can be separated by MDHs and MDHm using vinegar fiber membrane electrophoresis. The tears of healthy people are mainly MDHs.
