Renal hamartoma
Hamartoma is also known as renal vascular smooth muscle lipoma and is a benign tumor. It was thought to be rare in the past, and it has become common with the development of medical imaging. It can be a separate disease or a manifestation of tuberous sclerosis. Approximately 50% of patients diagnosed with renal hamartoma have nodular sclerosis, which is a hereditary disease and has a family tendency. It is manifested as brain dysplasia, epilepsy, and cheek sebaceous adenoma. Hamartomas can also occur in the brain, eyes, heart, lungs, and bones, and can sometimes be mistaken for metastatic lesions. Patients with renal hamartoma with tuberous sclerosis are relatively rare.
