Pathological REM sleep
This disease is characterized by irresistible short-term sleep onset and is a syndrome of unclear etiology, characterized by abnormal sleep tendencies, including excessive sleepiness during the day and restless nighttime sleep and pathological REM sleep. More than children or adolescent onset, men and women with similar incidence may have encephalitis or traumatic brain injury history. Its pathogenesis is not yet clear. It may be related to the decrease in the function of the ascending activation system of the brainstem reticular structure or the hyperfunction of the caudal caudate reticular nucleus. Most patients with cataplexy, sleep paralysis, sleep hallucinations and other symptoms are collectively called episodic Tetralogy of sleep sickness.
