Scar formation
Scar formation is caused by the body's inflammatory response, imbalance in collagen synthesis and degradation, the appearance of abnormal mucopolysaccharides, and fibroblast proliferation. The reduction of lymphatic reflux and local edema in hypertrophic scars can lead to hypertrophy of scars, which is an inevitable product of body wound repair.
