The supplemental inspiratory volume is the volume of inhaled air that is inhaled at the end of calm inhalation. Inspiratory capacity is the main component of vital capacity. It reflects the elasticity of the lung and chest and the strength of the inspiratory muscles, and needs to be comprehensively judged with other lung function tests.
