Vascular transplantation is a commonly used method when blood vessels are defective and cannot be sutured directly. Transplanted blood vessels can be autologous arteries, veins, allogeneic arteries, veins, or artificial blood vessels. However, in microvascular surgery, autologous arterial and venous transplantation is still the most commonly used.
