Left colectomy
The scope of left hemicolectomy includes the sigmoid colon, descending colon, transverse colonic spleen, left lateral transverse colon and its mesentery. Because the descending colon and sigmoid lymphatic drainage to the lymph nodes around the sub- mesenteric artery, and then to the abdominal aorta lymph nodes (about 3% of the lymph nodes within the abdominal aorta were affected). The radical operation method is to remove the area of the inferior mesenteric artery and the lymph nodes next to the abdominal aorta and the iliac artery. The effect of this operation is slightly higher than that of conventional resection, and it is suitable for cases with better general conditions and wider cancer. For benign lesions of the left half of the colon, or those with poor general conditions, a conservative conservative resection method can be used. Only the intestinal canal including 5 cm below and 15 cm above the cancer can be removed and the mesentery removed in a V shape.
