Indigo green retention test

Indigo green retention test is of great value in liver reserve function assessment and liver transplant donor and recipient selection. Indigo green is a dark green non-toxic pigment with minimal side effects. It is selectively taken up by liver cells after intravenous injection and is excreted into the bile in its original form. Indigo green does not participate in the enterohepatic circulation and is not excreted by the kidney. Injection After continuous blood collection, the retention rate can be measured. The main factors affecting indigo green clearance are liver blood flow, total number of functional liver cells, bile secretion and biliary patency.
