Fetal pancreatic acinar protein
Fetoacinar pancreatic protein (FAP) is a fetal pancreas-specific antigen, with the highest secretion at 20 weeks of gestation and low adult organ content. Human fetal pancreatic vesicle proteins have molecular weights of 60kD and 110kD. A monoclonal anti-J28 antibody can recognize 110kD FAP. FAP is a glycoprotein that binds to ConA and is specific for pancreatic acinar. Strongly overexpressed around pancreatic cancer, while underexpressed in chronic pancreatitis.
