HDV is a defective virus that relies on HBsAg to replicate. It is manifested as simultaneous or overlapping infections with HDV and HBV. The main route of transmission is living contact, and it can also be transmitted through blood products, blood transfusions, injections and other channels. Its laboratory tests mainly detect antigens and antibodies.
