Total bilirubin (TBIL, STB)

Most of the bilirubin in the serum is derived from the hemoglobin produced after the aging red blood cells are destroyed. Those that are glucuronidized in the liver are called direct bilirubin, and those that are not glucuronidized in the liver are called indirect bilirubin. The sum of the two is total bilirubin.
