Salivary mucin
The protein in saliva is mainly mucin, and other proteins are low in content. So far, more than ten kinds of saliva proteins and enzymes can be used as genetic markers, which has certain significance for human genetics and forensic research. Mucin is the main organic component in mucus. Cover all oral mucosa surfaces. There are two different types of mucin in saliva, namely high-molecular-weight mucin and low-molecular-weight mucin, which differ in structure and biological characteristics. The former has a higher carbohydrate content, while the latter is relatively low.
