Limited scleral bulging mass

Introduction

Introduction When the posterior part of the degenerative myopic eye grows significantly, the posterior pole can produce a limited degree of scleral swelling, and the edge can be sloped or steep.

Cause

Cause

The reason is that the congenital defect or pathological damage of the sclera makes the resistance weakened, and under the action of normal intraocular pressure or high intraocular pressure, the sclera and the uveal bulge outward. According to the range of bulging, it is divided into partial scleral staphyloma and total scleral staphyloma.

Clinical manifestations:

1. More vision loss, severe vision loss.

2. Anterior scleral staphyloma: the sclera and the ciliary body part form an annular bulge.

3. Accordion of the equator: the vortex vein penetrates the sclera uveal black bulge alone.

4. After the grape swollen: common around the optic nerve and the posterior pole, more high myopia.

5. Total scleral staphyloma: the eyeballs all expand and become larger, and the sclera is thin. Such as congenital glaucoma (water eye) and acquired glaucoma (bull eye).

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

Posterior scleral staphyloma is classified into 3 types: macular, optic disc, and disc-plaque. Should pay attention to identification.
