Urohydroandrosterone

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHA) is a precursor of androstenedione and testosterone produced by 17α-hydroxypregnenolone via 17 carbon chain enzyme. DHA is the main androgen secreted by the adrenal cortex. There is also a small amount produced with the testes, and the average daily secretion of adults is about 25mg. After DHA enters the blood, part of it is converted into testosterone in the peripheral tissues (see the testosterone project for the physiological effect of androgens).
