Spironolactone test

The spironolactone test is performed by the following principles. Spironolone has the effect of preventing aldosterone from retaining sodium and potassium in the distal renal tubules. If the dose is sufficient, it can reduce the urinary potassium output of patients with aldosteronism. Hypokalemia is corrected to approach or reach normal blood potassium levels; it can lower its elevated blood pressure and even fall to normal levels.
