Thoracoscopy
Thoracoscopy is an endoscopic examination of the pleural cavity. Note: Thoracoscopy should be distinguished from video imaging assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Thoracoscopy is mainly used for the diagnosis of pleural disease and for pleural atresia. It is often performed by a surgeon, but can also be performed by a trained physician. In contrast, VATS technology involves small, invasive intrathoracic surgeries performed by surgeons.
