Urine chloride

The total amount of chlorine in the body is about 100g, which is mainly present in tissues and body fluids in the form of chloride ions, which is the most anion in extracellular fluid. It is closely related to the content of bicarbonate (HCO-). When the serum chlorine concentration is reduced, in order to keep the total number of anions constant, bicarbonate is increased compensatingly, and vice versa. Chloride has an important role in regulating water, osmotic pressure and acid-base balance in the body. Chloride in the body is often absorbed and metabolized with sodium ions, and the changes are often consistent.
